GT Nominations Nominations of students, in first grade and above, are currently being accepted for screening for inclusion in the Gifted and Talented (G/T) program. The Gifted and Talented program is designed to meet the needs of traditionally defined gifted students. Students selected for the G/T program demonstrate above average ability, task commitment, and creativity. The district criteria for screening for the Gifted and Talented program are based on: • Parent or teacher nomination • Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) Achievement Test or Logramos • Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) • Parent rating scale and questionnaire • Teacher rating scale (by Joseph Renzulli and Robert K. Hartman) If your child has already been identified as part of the Gifted and Talented program, he/she will not need further screening. If you wish for your child to be considered for the Gifted and Talented program, a nomination form is available here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TkYtzaHahVIRRsAUYeNNts2prhzHgetA0JhZZRY2K-Q/edit?usp=sharing or in the school office. An informational meeting for parents will be held on February 23 at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room. This is not a required meeting for parents, but will provide information on the identification process and general information about the GT program. The Board Room is located at 1812 Welsh. All nominations are due by March 3, 2017. If you have questions, please contact Kathy Martin at [email protected]. Important Upcoming Dates:
